Ajak Kwai/Naked Strangers
Ajak Kwai/Naked Strangers
Fantastic double bill featuring legendary South Sudanese singer Ajak Kwai and up and comers The Naked Strangers.
Ajak Kwai:
With the release of Let Me Grow My Wings, her aptly titled fifth studio album, Australia’s renowned songwoman of contemporary South Sudanese music, Ajak Kwai has established her footing firmly on the Australian music landscape. Now, she has engaged with some of Melbourne’s finest producers and musicians to bring to life an eclectic collection of twelve self-penned songs which reflect her observations, influences and connections since moving to Australia in the late nineties.
Naked Strangers:
Naked Strangers are less than a year old but after a listen to their first single, “Honey Roast”, they will feel like a familiar favorite. Not because they’re a copy of other bands and sounds, not in the slightest; but because the track is warm, penetrating and richly mature, yet refreshing for such a new band.

The Three Seas
The Three Seas
The Three Seas
An international, intercultural ensemble, The Three Seas combines contemporary Australian jazz with West Bengali and Nepalese folk music. Soaring Baul vocals, a menagerie of traditional stringed instruments, Himalayan mystique and West Bengali beats are juxtaposed against the deep groove of the baritone saxophone to create an energetic and uplifting musical alchemy.
Led by celebrated Australian saxphonist Matt Keegan, and featuring prodigious Baul singer Raju Das, the remarkable bandmates were drawn together by mutual respect for their distinct and diverse cultural origins and shared passion for creating songs that resonate universally.
A collaborative project twleve years in the making, The Three Seas have released three albums to critical acclaim, touring regularly in Australia and India. Recent performances include The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Nehru Centre London Kochi - Muzuris Biennale, Oz Asia Festival, Indian Museum Kolkata, Art Gallery of New South Wales, Parramasala Festival, and Royal Mumbai Opera House.
