Triple U – Artist Of The Month – April 2026

Ron ‘Callo’ Callaghan is a South Coast institution and has been playing his unique blend of blues, rock
and country up and down the south coast for 30 years. He sings originals and covers with a unique
vibrato singing style and raw rhythm guitar.

A proud Walbunja and Dhungutti man, Ron’s music reflects his life, family and culture. His songs are
built on soulful melodies and lyrics that tell real stories. His gentle guitar playing and the quiet power
he shares in his songs is as moving as it is unforgettable.

Ron Callaghan is also a mentor, helping young First Nations musicians on the South Coast find their
own voice. Within his community and beyond he’s respected not just as a performer but as someone
who inspires those around him.

Ron’s devotion to his work as a musician was rewarded when he won the title of Best Male Vocal at
the 2026 People’s Choice Awards staged in Tamworth. He was also a People’s Choice Awards finalist
in the category of Best Song for his song ‘Proud Black Man’.
