Hi Folks, I'm called Jock (amongst other things) and I have been presenting a Scottish program since 1980.,during my 12 years in Liverpool, I played approximately 40,000 Scottish requests, all vinyl. This was
only to be a two week fill in to help out 2GL. I finished up doing two shows a week with a crew of 4. I left there and went to Penrith, Campbelltown and Mittagong, eventually landing at Wollongong and then finally, Nowra. I've had three spells here, amounting to approximately 12 years. I've seen a lot of changes in Community Radio since 1980, some of it for the better and some not so good. Triple U has become one of the best I've ever worked at. I recently commenced hosting "Family Favourites" on Tuesday afternoons 2- 4, which I hope you enjoyed.
Now, something about meee - I came from Dundee, Scotland with a wife and two boys in 1950, as a ten pound migrant in 1950 and landed with a pound that I borrowed. (I had been to Australia before as a merchant seaman, sailing on the big liners, since 1947). I was never unemployed and did a bit of singing in pubs, for weddings etc. as a tenor. I was the singing waiter in a pub in Sydney for approximately 18 months. I eventually became the MC/DJ at a lot of Scottish dances, and still keep my hand in, so I may see you around. I could chatter on forever about myself and my experiences, but I hope this wee profile will be enough to whet your appetites and tune in.
Thanks for your interest and stay tuned to Triple U FM
